Defense, Public Order and Security Audit Department

The department's audit activities include defense, public order, police, justice, courts, state security agencies and penitentiary institutions.

The department provides audits to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Common Courts, State Security agencies and public and private legal entities under their control.

The department prepares financial, compliance and performance audit reports, develops recommendations to improve internal control mechanisms, prevent violations, and improve performance.

The department also provides monitoring of the implementation of the issued recommendations.

Zaza Shekiladze

Head of Department

Zaza Shekiladze is heading Defense, Public Order and Security Audit Department since 2025.

Having had number of years of experience at the State Audit Office, at various times, he held the positions of Chief Controller (Chamber of Control, 2002-2008), Head of the Social Sector Audit Department, Deputy Head of the Economic Sector Audit Department, and Deputy Auditor General at the State Audit Office.

In 2008-2014, he worked at the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, where he headed various structural units. He also has many years of experience in the banking sector.

He received Bachelor's degree from Tbilisi State University, specializing in Finance and Credit (1985), and Master's degree in Macroeconomics (1988).

He speaks English and Russian.
