On March 22-26, the World Bank held a training session for the employees of the State Audit Office of Georgia. The training session, conducted by a procurement specialist Sandro Nozadze, covered Post-Review Procedures of Procurements according to World Bank guidelines.
The training session was aimed to enhance the capacity of the SAO’s employees in terms of WB procurement procedures. Implementation cycle of the projects financed by WB funds including preparation/evaluation of bidding documents/proposals for procurements of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services were discussed at the training. Additionally, case studies based on Georgian reality were also reviewed.
This training session represents a significant step towards the development of a new audit direction – Audit of Donor-Funded Projects - determined in the SAO Strategic Plan.
Through the introduction of donor fund audit, the SAO will ensure both -- the financial statement audit of projects in compliance with international standards and the evaluation of projects in accordance with current legislation and regulations of Georgia.
