World Bank launched a new project in cooperation with the State Audit Office 13 June, 2018

 A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the State Audit Office (SAO) and the World Bank Georgia Country Office.

Following the MoU, the World Bank and the SAO intend to implement the “Making Big Data Work for Governance” project, in order to enhance SAO’s analytical capabilities and equip the staff with effective audit management mechanisms and data analysis software.

The MoU was signed by the Auditor General of the SAO, Irakli Mekvabishvili and the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Mercy Tembon.

Within the scope of the MoU, training courses and seminars will be delivered by local and international experts.

The overall aim is to support efficient spending of the country’s funds and effective management practices. As a result of the project, an analytical data product will be established in accordance with the international standards of the supreme audit institutions (ISSAI 12), which will serve as a basis for a solid cooperation between the World Bank and the SAO.
