STATE AUDIT OFFICE OF GEORGIA

Visit of the State Audit Office in Israel ended with face-to-face meetings 13 March, 2019

The visit of the State Audit Office delegation to Israel came to the end, preceded by the reception with the President of Israel Reuven Rivlin. The third International EUROSAI-ASOSAI Conference took place in Israel.

Reuven Rivlin hosted the Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of 21 participant countries at the Presidential Palace.

Within the framework of the International Conference of Supreme Audit Institutions, the delegation of the State Audit Office held bilateral  meetings with the heads of four other SAIs as well.

The delegations of Finland, Spain, Czech Republic and Poland audit institutions discussed the issues that caused bilateral interest during the presentations of the heads of SAIs.

In the scope of cooperation among audit institutions, communication of the State Audit Office with the SAIs of Finland and Spain took place for the first time.

Auditor General of Finland Ms Tytti Yli-Viikari expressed her interest in the monitoring mechanism of recommendations, which Irakli Mekvabishvili discussed during the presentation at the conference. On the other hand, the Georgian delegation expressed interest in the experience of Finland in audit planning and budget analysis.

The prospects of deepening future cooperation were discussed by the representatives of the State Audit Office at the meeting with the delegation of Tribunal de Cuentas (Spain).

Irakli Mekvabishvili and his Spanish counterpart Ms Maria de la Fuente y de la Calle, who is also the Head of the EUROSAI Permanent Secretariat, expressed readiness to actively communicate and engage in international projects. Georgia and Spain have already participated in a joint audit survey "Air Quality Performance Audit". Representatives of the Georgian and Spanish Audit Institutions agreed that such joint surveys are the best platform for sharing experience, improving management system, as well as protection of the interests of the countries involved.

The Georgian delegation also met with the President of the Supreme Audit Office of Czech Republic, Mr. Miloslav Kala. Experience of the Czech SAI in the use of digital technologies during the audit process and IT audit is highly important for Georgia. The perspectives of audit cooperation and sharing of best practices were discussed at the meeting of the Georgian delegation and the President of the Supreme Audit Institution of Poland (NIK) Mr Krzysztof Kwiatkowski.
