US Ambassador to Georgia HE Kelly Degnan visited the State Audit Office.

At the introductory meeting, Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili introduced the US Ambassador the auditory achievements of the State Audit Office, current  work, the joint ongoing international audits, and the role of political party monitoring in the election process in Georgia.

US Ambassador Kelly Degnan: “I had a very interesting and informative meeting with the Auditor General, where we discussed the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. The USAID and the Government of the United States of America have been working with the State Audit Office since 2011 to develop its operations. The progress that the State Audit Office has made in meeting high international standards is very inspiring and hopeful. Their work ensures transparency and accountability of state institutions to public in terms of safeguarding and managing finances."

The meeting with the US Ambassador was also attended by the Deputy Auditor General Eka Ghazadze and USAID/Georgia Regional Controller Gagik Melkumyan.
