Two-day workshop on citizens’ involvement in audit process 23 May, 2016

On May 19-20 two-day workshop on citizens’ involvement in audit process was organized by the State Audit Office. Goal of the workshop was the discussion of the common point, mutual cooperation tools and initiatives between the State Audit Office and NGOs/CSOs. The workshop was conducted within the framework of the project “Increase of citizens’ involvement in audit process” financed by the World Bank. More than 10 representatives of NOGs/CSOs took part in this workshop.

The State Audit Office has started preparing strategy of the citizens’involvement in audit process. Accordingly, key points of the strategy, challenges and recommendation were discussed within the framework of the workshop. NOG and CSO representatives were given the possibility during the meetings to hold discussions with the State Audit Office staff. The meetings were also attended by representatives of Korean and Indian SAIs, who held presentations and shared their as well as international experience with the participants of the seminar. 

Increase of accountability of the State Audit Office in regard to the citizens, NGOs and CSOs is one of the main priorities of the SAO’s activity. Main purpose of the project “Citizens’ involvement in audit process” is constant improvement of this direction.
