During the visit to Brussels, the State Audit Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Belgian Court of Audit.
Irakli Mekvabishvili, the Auditor General of Georgia and his Belgian counterpart Philippe Roland signed the document which intends to develop cooperation and exchange of professional knowledge and experience.
The ceremony was attended by the representatives of the Georgian and Belgian audit offices, among them the President of the Dutch speaking Court Hilde Francois, and the Councillor of the French speaking Court Franz Wascotte, as well as the members of the Georgian Parliament who were visiting Belgium along the State Audit Office.
After the ceremony, Irakli Mekvabishvili and Philippe Roland addressed their colleagues and accentuated the importance of bilateral cooperation.
During the two day visit to the Belgian Court of Audit bilateral cooperation related matters including fiscal policy and innovations were discussed. Also the participants discussed potential of further cooperation and exchange of experience.
The visit of the State Audit Office to Belgium and the Netherlands along with members of the Parliament was organized under the EU supported project Institutional Strengthening of the State Audit Office of Georgia.
