SAO-Ministry of Finance Memorandum signed 12 April, 2018

The State Audit Office signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, which envisages deepening of partnership between internal and external audit institutions.

The MoC was signed by the Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili and the Minister of Finance of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze.

As a result of the activities under the Memorandum, sharing of information, knowledge and experience, as well as trainings and other activities will regularly take place that will facilitate the creation of additional value in the public sector audit activities.

As the Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili stated, an effective internal audit unit can play an important role in strengthening the organization\'s internal control system.

"Focus of the state agencies on financial control and accountability, as well as efficient governance of institutions and planning activities for this purpose is an important step forward. The State Audit Office is ready to cooperate with its stakeholders and assist in setting of their financial systems, "Irakli Mekvabishvili said.

The memorandum is consistent with the Georgian legislation, as well as INTOSAI standards and IPPF developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
