Today, on September 29, Auditor General of the State Audit Office Lasha Tordia held meeting with the representatives of the non-governmental sector.
The meeting was aimed at the increasing of public involvement, NGOs and community based organizations (CBOs) in the State Audit Office activity with the help of the different tools.
Within the framework of the Georgia’s anti-corruption strategy and “Open Government Partnership”, aimed at the successful realization of the current obligations, the State Audit Office has taken significant steps forward to increase public involvement in audit process and ensure open government principles. The State Audit Office worked out electronic tools of the public involvement, with the help of which the stakeholders will have the possibility to improve the audit activity by using web portals -- “Plan with us” and “Fight against Corruption”. Civil society will be able to directly and indirectly contribute to the improvement of public finance management.
At the meeting, Auditor General of the State Audit Office Lasha Tordia expressed his wish to set up a joint cooperation framework, which will provide a creation of the joint communication platform for the State Audit Office and non-governmental sector.
The strategy of the public involvement will be prepared within the framework of the above-mentioned cooperation and thus will promote the institutionalizations of the civil society cooperation tools.
