The State Audit Office hosted a workshop with analysts of an international organisation International Budget Partnership (IBP) in Georgia and an NGO „Transparency International Georgia”.
Primary areas of SAO’s activities, including state budget monitoring and budget transparency were discussed at the meeting.
IBP conducts a survey of the "Open Budget Index Rating" of the countries every two years. According to a recent survey conducted by the IBP last year, Georgia recieved 82 points out of 100 and ranked 5th in international rating. The ranking of the SAO in the budgetary oversight component was 89 point out of 100.
IBP has used 109 indicators during the survey to evaluate budget transparency. The indicators evaluate how timely the government makes basic budget documents available to the public, and whether information provided in the documents is complete and useful.
