Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili hosted a delegation of the World Bank headed by IBRD-IDA Program Leader for the South Caucasus countries, Europe and Central Asia region and leading economist Genevieve Boyreau.
Main directions and future plans of the ongoing project -- “IT Audit Development in the State Audit Office of Georgia”, which is being implemented by the support of the World Bank, were discussed at the meeting. As Irakli Mekvabishvili noted, the World Bank\'s support in this direction is of a high importance to the State Audit Office.
Agreement between the World Bank and the State Audit Office on the project "Development of IT Audit in the State Audit Office of Georgia" was signed in February 2017. The project comprises three components: introduction of the information system necessary for IT audits in the State Audit Office, development of IT auditors’ capabilities in the State Audit Office and project management.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputies Auditor General - Ekaterine Gazadze and David Gogichaishvili as well as by the Head of the State Budget Analysis and Strategic Planning Department Marika Natsvlishvili.
The parties also discussed analytical web platform of the State Audit Office - "Budget Monitor", which won WSA International Digital Innovation Award. It should be noted that "Budget Monitor" was introduced within the framework of the World Bank-funded project "Increase of Citizens’ Involvement in Audit Process".
