Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili and Deputy Auditor General Ekaterine Ghazadze held meeting with Minister Councellor, Head of Cooperation Section of EU Delegation to Georgia Vincent Rey, Program Officer of Budget Support Coordination Program - "Private Sector Development", Attaché Dominik Papenheim and Budget Support Coordinator, Project Manager of “Economics, Regional Development and Public Finance” Irakli Khmaladze.
At the meeting, the parties discussed implemented and ongoing EU-funded projects in the State Audit Office, including the program "Institutional Strengthening of the State Audit Office". Future bilateral cooperation and perspectives were also discussed.
It should be noted that the implementation of the EU-funded two-year project "Institutional Strengthening of State Audit Office" has begun in May 2017. The project includes the following issues: strengthening of the independence of the State Audit Office according to the international standards of Supreme Audit Institutions; strengthening of financial, compliance and IT audits; promotion of EU Delegation to Georgia, State Audit Office and Parliament of Georgia in implementation of Public Finance Management Reform.
