Today, on November 28, the presentation of the new EU-funded public administration TWINNING project took place in the State Audit Office (SAO).
The aim of the project is the improvement of accountability for the use of public funds in the Georgian public administration, strengthening of the management and technical capacity of the State Audit Office and planning and carrying out of audits in line with European Union (EU) and international standards and methodologies.
Exchange of the professional knowledge and skills will assist the State Audit Office to enhance transparency and standards of its working methods. The SAO will be provided with highly-qualified staff, modern management and processes.
For the support of the SAO, the project is implemented by the German-Polish consortium, headed by the Supreme Audit Institute of Germany Bundesrechnungshof (BRH) and supported by the Supreme Audit Office of the Republic of Poland Najwyższa Izba Kontroli (NIK), by the cooperation with the SAO during 24 months.
The budget of the project is EURO 1.17 million. The project provides the assistance within the framework of the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI), which supports the democratic development, supremacy of law and good governance. The project is directly related to the EU-Georgia Association Agreement 1.2 sub-article, which aims at “Strengthening of democracy and promoting of political, economic and institutional stability in Georgia “.
Public administration TWINNING project is the cooperation instrument between the EU member and beneficiary states. Beneficiary countries are countries - candidates for becoming an EU members and potential candidate-states as well as states within the framework of the ENP.
