Georgia National Integrity System Assessment 2015 08 June, 2015

Today, on June 8, the conference on “Georgia’s democratic system: key institutions in 2011-2015” took place in the CourtYard Marriott Hotel, where the activity of the State Audit Office was assessed positively.

According to the Georgia National Integrity System Assessment 2015 report, “since 2011,  the quality of the audits conducted by the State Audit Office as well as ability to detect violations and encourage better management of the public funds were increased.”   

Auditor General of the State Audit Office Lasha Tordia participated in the conference. Auditor General, as invited speaker, summed up the reforms carried out in the State Audit Office during the last 4 years as well as achieved results and current challenges of the institution.  

As Lasha Tordia stated, the reforms carried out in the institution include several phases: first phase is legislative changes (mandate, independence), introduction of the concept of the financial and compliance audits; and the second phase is introduction of the performance audit, quality assurance system, recommendation implementation monitoring system, reform   of human resources and audit quality assurance.

The conference – “Georgia National Integrity System Assessment,” was conducted by the initiative of the “Transparency International – Georgia” and funded by the European Union.
