"Budget Monitor" – The State Audit Office shared its experience with participants of the OGP Summit 19 July, 2018

The State Audit Office presented an Innovative Web Platform for Transparency of Public Finances - "Budget Monitor" at the OGP (Open Governance Partnership) 5th global summit.

The representatives of the participant countries of the Open Government Partnership Summit got acquainted with the working principles of the Budget Monitor, its outcomes and challenges on various panels. Marika Natsvlishvili, the Head of the State Budget and Strategic Analysis Department, was the speaker of the panel "Budget Transparency for the Development - Sharing Experience and New Opportunities", presentingabout the experience of the State Audit Office in the field of transparency of public finances and the citizens’ engagement in the audit planning process.

Giorgi Chakvetadze, the Budget Chief Analyst of the State Audit Office, held a presentation on the second panel "Impact of Digital Technologies on Citizens’ Engagement in Public Services Delivery". Meetings were conducted in interactive mode and the representatives of the attending countries received full information on compelling topics.

The OGP\'s 2016-2017 Action Plan was a commitment of the State Audit Office to create an analytical platform for citizens\' engagement in the public finance oversight (public audit) that would facilitate the introduction of basic principles of OGP. These principles are transparency, accountability, citizens’ participation, technology and innovation. In March 2017, an innovative platform "Budget Monitor" was launched to ensure open governance and transparency of public finances, which has attracted great interest and recognition of partnership at international level.

Georgia, as the OGP chair country, hosted the 5th Global Summit on July 17-19, in which delegations of 76 countries and representatives of local authorities took part.
