Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili held meeting with Auditor General of Latvia Elita Krūmiņa 23 August, 2018

Within the scope of the visit dedicated to the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Latvia, Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili held meeting with the Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Latvia Elita Krūmiņa. During bilateral meeting, heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the two countries discussed the possibilities of cooperation development.

In particular, the Auditors General discussed perspectives of sharing experience on such issues as the country’s consolidated financial statement prepared in accordance with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) as well as conduction of parallel audits in selected areas, developing methodology for the Annual Audit Planning, risk-based approach and other issues.

In her turn, Elita Krūmiņa expressed readiness to share the best practice of the SAO Latvia and to develop cooperation in different directions with the State Audit Office of Georgia.

SAIs of Georgia and Latvia have been cooperating in different areas including the Eastern Partnership cooperation and the project "Increasing the Role of External Audit".

By the initiative of the State Audit Office of Latvia, within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, a number of workshops is planned to be held for the countries engaged in the project, as well as to convene a high level forum in the second half of 2018.
