The Auditor General at the State Audit Office received representatives of the Financial Office of the US Agency for International Development. The guests expressed their interest with the new strategy of the State Audit Office, recent activities and innovations. Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili, Deputy Auditor General Eka Ghazadze and Head of the State Budget and Strategic Analysis Department Marika Natsvlishvili provided the USAID with information regarding the SAO’s future plans, ongoing and implemented projects and challenges of the activities. The representatives took special interest in the case of the audit of the World Bank funded infrastructure project.
Having good cooperation experience, the USAID expressed their desire to continue and deepen cooperation, including the audit of the USAID-funded projects. They also expressed their readiness to assist the SAO in a qualitatively new stage and institutional strengthening.
