SAO’s employees express their extreme concern over the recent events involving physical and verbal assault of Auditor General, Mr. Lasha Tordia. First of all, we would like to express our full support to the Auditor General in the independent and professional execution of State Audit Office’s work. We strongly believe that independent and competent supreme audit institution is one of the biggest achievements of the democratic society, and the assault on the Auditor General causes pressure on SAO’s and its employees’ professional work.
We are deeply offended by the accusations of biased audit work. Therefore, we would like to stress out that our audit reports are based on the facts and international standards on auditing.
In order to preserve SAO’s auditors’ professional security, we kindly appeal to the Parliament, President, Government, and civil society, international and local organizations to support us in the realization of SAO’s independence to the maximum extent.
With this announcement, SAO’s each and every employee would like to once again confirm our complete unanimity on being pursuant to the principles of loyalty, independence, objectivity, impartiality, professionalism and denounce any outside interference in our work.
