Tornike Shermadini, Head of the Economic Activities Audit Department and Irakli Petriashvili, Senior Auditor of the same department, from the State Audit Office of Georgia, participated in the meeting of the ASOSAI Working Group on State-Owned Enterprises Audit (WGSOEA) meeting, which was held in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
The Working Group on State-Owned Enterprises Audit consists of representatives from 32 ASOSAI member countries and aims to strengthen governance, accountability, efficiency, and transparency in state-owned enterprises.
Over the main part of the event, the sessions focused on prospective directions for the development of SOE auditing. Participants discussed common challenges, audit practices and opportunities to improve audit methodologies through collaboration and knowledge exchange.
In addition to the WGSOEA meeting, participants had the opportunity to attend the ASEAN Auditors’ first Conference of 2025, which brought together over 2,000 participants.
The event was hosted by the National Audit Department of Malaysia and personally hosted by the Auditor General of Malaysia. The WGSOEA is the first initiative within ASOSAI specifically focused on improving the auditing of State-Owned Enterprises.
