The parliamentary delegation of Turkmenistan visited the State Audit Office within the framework of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) program „Government Support in Turkmenistan (GSP)”.
Giorgi Mamrikishvili, Head of the Audit Department of Self-Governing Entities, and Nino Kereselidze, Head of International Relations Division met the parliamentary delegation. The members of the delegation took interest in the topics related to the relations with parliamentary committees, strengthening local self-governments, and overseeing public finances in the budgeting process of municipalities.
The meeting particularly concerned the mandate and role of the services, accountability, and transparency, communication processes with the stakeholders, as well as control standards of the local self-governments. The State Audit Office shared its experience related to the international practice of cooperation with INTOSAI and the Working Group of Municipalities of EUROSAI (TFMA) to the members of the Parliament of Turkmenistan.
The delegation of Turkmenistan expressed its desire to expand cooperation with the State Audit Office with the support of the USAID.
