Chief Auditor Tekla Oniani will participate in the US International Auditor Fellowship Program 2024 16 April, 2024

Tekla Oniani, a chief auditor of the Economic Activities Audit Department, will participate in International Auditor Fellowship Program (IAFP) at the US Government Accountability Office (GAO).

For three months, Tekla Oniani will get familiar about GAO's audit practices, innovations introduced in the US GAO, and will be directly involved in GAO's audit processes and audit research. Also, Tekla Oniani will work on the topic: "Building Equity into Performance Audits", on which will be prepared a strategic document and this practice will be introduced in the State Audit Office.

The program participants from 17 SAIs will get acquainted with the mechanisms of cooperation of the GAO with the Congress and other institutions of the US federal government. The program also includes training related to the audit management and strengthening of leadership skills.

The IAFP is implemented with the support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Tekla Oniani is the 10th auditor of the SAOG, who participates in the professional training program of GAO.

The primary part of the program is taking place in Washington Head Office of GAO, and visits to US Federal Government Offices are also planned.
