The State Audit Office, with the support of USAID, launched a new project for Municipalities  20 March, 2024

The State Audit Office, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Local Governance Program, launched a new project – „Cooperation of the State Audit Office and Municipalities for Improving Public Administration“.

The project aims to discuss the main audit results and recommendations conducted in the Municipalities, the recommendations follow-up process and the usage of the SAO’s recommendations monitoring electronic system - ARIS, as well as strengthening the role of the Sakrebulos and internal audits in the oversight of public finances management. 

In the first meeting 50 representatives participated from 7 municipalities of Kvemo Kartli region.

The Deputy Auditor General Zaza Shekiladze, in his opening address, underlined the importance of cooperation between the State Audit Office and Municipalities and their joint work.

Giorgi Mamrikishvili, Head of the Self-Government Entities Audit Department, presented the main results and recommendations of the audits conducted in Municipalities. Tsotne Karkashadze, Head of the State Budget and Strategic Analysis Department introduced the Audit Recommendation Implementation System (ARIS.SAO.GE) to the representatives of municipalities. Giorgi Mamrikishvili and Giuli Chkuaseli, Head of the Public Internal Control Department of the Ministry of Finance, spoke about the role of the Sakrebulos and internal audits in the process of oversight the public finances management. 

Tinatin Sikmashvili, Head of the Certification and Training Service at the Public Audit Institute, presented professional development training programs tailored to the needs of municipalities.

During the interactive meeting the representatives of the SAO answered the questions of the representatives of municipalities and Sakrebulos, and also discussed the ways of joint solutions to the recommendations.
