The State Audit Office hosted a study visit with the representatives of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Center for Audit Excellence (CAE).

Within the scope of the project, the GAO study visit was previously hosted in July, and the auditors of the SAO attended professional trainings of the CAE on performance audit methodology, leading and managing audit teams.

This time, the representatives of the CAE shared the American experience of developing effective recommendations, and issues related to performance audits, they provided professional advice and mentoring to the management of the performance and social audit departments.

Training of trainers was conducted for auditors and SAO employees who are trainers of the Public Audit Institute. They have also received consultations on specifics of the training programs and modules.

A consultative meeting was also convened with the Ethics Commission, where the US colleagues introduced their experiences and shared recommendations to them.

At the end of the study visit, the management of the State Audit Office discussed with the representatives of GAO-CAE further stages of the project development, which includes continuous professional development of the auditors, evaluating the impact of recommendations and effective management of strategic communication.

The meetings and trainings were led by Robert Goldenkoff, Director of Strategic Issues of the US GAO, and Becky K. Kennedy, an expert from the CAE.
