The Auditor General participated in the conference on public procurement 29 September, 2023

The Auditor General Tsotne Kavlashvili participated in the conference of the State Procurement Agency and the UN Global Compact Network „Public Procurement Transformation of Georgia“ and delivered a speech about the measures implemented by the State Audit Office to improve state procurement.

„We constantly cover public procurement within the scope of thematic audits, as well as conduct interagency systemic audits of public procurement management, which rendered us the opportunity to identify the risks in this area in a broader perspective, and issue high-impact recommendations aiming at competition, fair approach to participants, as well as transparency of the process to ensure higher quality“, said Tsotne Kavlashvili.

It is noteworthy that the State Procurement Agency developed a recommendation document that has significantly improved one of the important stages of state procurement - the market research process, based on the recommendations of the State Audit Office.

The Auditor General also noted that in the process of planning audit activities, the SAO focuses on effective functioning of the state procurement system to increase efficiency of internal control system in this area, as well to improve the regulatory environment.

Within the framework of the event, field experts invited by international and donor organizations presented various thematic presentations to the conference participants.

The aim of the conference was to establish a high standard in state procurement, which is the most important condition for the country's European integration.

The conference „Public Procurement Transformation of Georgia“ was also attended by the Deputy Auditor General Sophio Dvalishvili and Zaza Shekiladze, and the Director of Public Audit Institute Gela Tsiklauri.
