The annual meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Big Data (WGBD) hosted in Cairo, the capital of Egypt with the representatives of INTOSAI member Supreme Audit Institutions sharing their experiences in the public sector, on the possibility of using big data analysis, its processing techniques and artificial intelligence in audit activities. Compliance of international auditing standards (ISSAI) and IT technologies, potential risks and challenges related to the use of these tools were the main topics of discussion.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the progress of the projects to be implemented by the working group. The State Audit Office is joining in the project planned by the group on „Application of Big Data in Budget Execution Audit“.
The meeting of the working group was hosted the Accountability State Authority of Egypt (ASA), with the participation of representatives of the SAIs from 24 countries and the European Court of Auditors (ECA). The State Audit Office was represented at the meeting by the Head of the State Budget Analysis Division, Lasha Kelikhashvili.
The Working Group on Big Data is a specialized working group of INTOSAI, which was created to achieve the third strategic goal of INTOSAI – „Knowledge Sharing and Services“. The purpose of the group is to identify the challenges and opportunities faced by the world's top audit organizations in the era of Big Data, to facilitate sharing of knowledge and experience, and to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation opportunities.
