With the support of the National Governance Program of the US Development Agency (USAID), an external working meeting of the State Audit Office and the Budget and Finance Committee of the Parliament was convened.
At a three-day workshop in Telavi, the representatives of the State Audit Office introduced the SAO’s Strategic Development Plan and priorities to the MPs.
With this, the committee members received detailed information about the audit findings and systemic problems, challenges in the implementation of the recommendations and the effectiveness of the actions to be taken for implementing the recommendations. Discussion pertained strengthening the Parliamentary supervision in the process of the implementation of recommendations by participating in the ARIS system for better monitoring the implementation of recommendations of the Audit Office.
On their part, the Budget and Finance Committee summarized the activities of the Audit Report Review Group and cooperation with the State Audit Office.
The Standing Audit Group of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Parliament reviews the reports of the State Audit Office monthly. In 2022, the Parliament discussed 30 audit reports, and 17 reports in the last six months.
