The representative of the State Audit Office got acquainted with the Experience of German of fighting corruption 29 June, 2023

Giorgi Khitarishvili, Deputy Head of the Audit Department of Defense, Public Order and Security, together with representatives of Eastern European state institutions, participated in the training project on fighting corruption organized by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).

Within the framework of the project "Fighting Corruption and Money Laundering and Strengthen Special Investigative Institutions", participants of the training program in German cities of Dusseldorf, Wuppertal, Bochum and Berlin learned about the experiences of central and local governments and their implemented practices. The meetings were hosted at the Ministry of Justice of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the offices of the Criminal Police, the Prosecutor, the European Public Prosecutor and the Westphalian Specialized Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Bochum Public Prosecutor's Office, the German Federal Ministry of Justice, the German Bundestag and the Federal Ministry of the Interior.

The training program included topics related to corruption including anti-corruption actions and their challenges; German anti-corruption legislation; EU directives on the fight against corruption; structure and tasks of Criminal Police; Corruption prevention and their strategies; Investigations against the police officers, prosecutors and judges; "white collar" crime; Investigation of fraud and tax evasion related to the EU budget by the European Public Prosecutor's Office; and fraud prevention in the public sector.

At the meeting, the participants of the study tour presented the examples of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova and introduced to the audience approaches and similarities of these countries regarding the preventive and detection measures of corruption.
