The Standing Working Group on Audit Reports in the Parliament of Georgia discussed two compliance and one financial audit reports.
Megi Kodoshvili, the Leading Auditor of the Defense, Public Order and Security Audit Department presented the audit findings and recommendations regarding the management of assets of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and state procurement to the members of the Working Group. The State Audit Office has issued 15 recommendations which includes the development of a strategic plan for the rational management of assets, the timely write-off of valueless assets, or other type of their use, ensuring the renewal of the necessary aircraft and sea vehicles, and the optimization of the car park.
Tornike Shermadini, the Head of the Economic Activities Audit Department presented the findings of the Financial Audit - Plant Safety Systems Initiative implemented by the LEPL National Food Agency. The recommendation issued to the object of the audit, in order to effectively use the purchased materials, provides implement proper control mechanisms on the production dates.
At the meeting, Mariam Zaalishvili, the Deputy Head of the Social Sector Audit Department, presented the Audit Report on the Authorization Process of Higher Education Institutions. To improve the quality of the authorization process of higher education institutions, four recommendations have been issued, according to which it is appropriate to determine a fair fee for the authorization process, to introduce mechanisms for control of the remuneration of international experts, and to raise the quality of educational practices.
In response to the reviewed reports, the auditees presented the statuses of implementation of the recommendations.
Sophio Dvalishvili, Deputy Auditor General, attended the meeting of the Working Group together with the auditors, who answered the questions of MPs.
