Mariam Zaalishvili, Deputy Head of the Social Audit Department, has received a certificate of anti-corruption legal studies from the US and International Anti-Corruption Law Program in Washington, DC, after completing an international program and passing the corresponding exam.
The seminar, organized by the American University Washington College of Law for public officials and covered topics closely related to the work of the State Audit Office, such as analyzing public procurement corruption risk and mitigation by government and donor organizations, and practices used in the U.S. and international community, as well as transparency and accountability in the public sector.
The certification seminar, led by the university professors, featured experts from the Federal government institutions such as government accountability office and the Department of Justice, as well as international organizations such as the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Mariam Zaalishvili is a participant of the International Auditor Fellowship Program of the U.S Government Accountability Office (GAO), which she attended for four months in 2019.
The GAO is a strategic partner of the State Audit Office having completed numerous projects. The current project is about establishing methods for evaluating the impact of recommendations in performance audits to provide measurable potential benefits derived from the recommendations. The introduction of recommendation impact evaluation methods indicates a high level of institutional development at the State Audit Office.
