The State Audit Office received the highest assessment in the Supreme Audit Institutions Performance Measurement Framework (SAI-PMF).
According to the SAI-PMF indicators, the professional and organizational development of the office was assessed with the activities carried out within the strategic development of 2018-2021 and received a maximum of 3.4 points out of 4, which means that the institutional development of the State Audit Office equates to the level of EU countries.
The SAI-PMF is the only independent, professional, and at the same time complex mechanism that assesses both audit and non-audit activities, the legislative framework, the degree and mandate of the organization’s independence, internal governance and ethics, communication with key stakeholders, and human resource management.
The SAOG was first evaluated by the SAI-PMF in 2017 by a group of international experts. The average score obtained was 2.2 points (out of a maximum of 4 points) that clearly showed the challenges existing at that time. Based on the results of this evaluation, the Strategy of the SAOG for 2018-2022 that has been developed, set the goals and objectives of reforms and measures that have now been implemented.
In 2018-2021, the SAOG worked purposefully to address the challenges identified by the SAI-PMF and achieved all targets set by the strategy.
