The management of the State Audit Office (SAO) participated online in the XI EUROSAI Congress attended by the representatives of EUROSAI member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) from about 50 countries.
At the plenary session, EUROSAI presented a report on the implementation of the strategic plan for 2017-2024, an updated communication strategy and issues of cooperation with INTOSAI.
A separate panel dedicated to sharing experiences from the heads of EUROSAI thematic working groups in which the SAO has also been actively engaged. Over the past three years, the SAO has conducted two joint audits as part of the Working Group on the Audit of Funds Allocated to Disasters and Catastrophes - on emergency management of wildfire, and air quality.
The chair of the Congress - Turkey handed over the chairmanship to the Czech SAI for a three-year term. The delegates of the Congress also elected a subsequent chair country, which will take office from 2024 to 2027 chaired by the SAI of Israel.
From the SAO, the XI EUROSAI Congress was attended by the Auditor General - Irakli Mekvabishvili, Deputy Auditor General - Ekaterine Ghazadze, Head of Defense, Public Order and Security Audit Department, Sophio Dvalishvili, Head of State Budget and Strategic Analysis Department, Tsotne Karkashadze, and the Head of International and Donor Relations Division, Nino Kereselidze.
