The State Audit Office is launching a new project with the World Bank 19 February, 2021

The State Audit Office (SAO) is launching a new institutional capacity building project with the World Bank under the EU Economic Governance and Fiscal Accountability (EGFA) program. 

Cooperation with the World Bank Technical Assistance Project includes strengthening audit activities in various areas. These include: assessing the impact of implementing audit recommendations, strengthening information technology (IT) audits, refining the legal framework, and complying with international standards, enabling the SAO to develop revenue audits.

The project will be implemented for three years under the EU EGFA program. The World Bank is a partner of the EU EGFA program in Georgia, which provides technical assistance for this program in 2021-2023.

An online meeting on the project was held between the World Bank Office in Washington and the SAO. The meeting was attended by Patrick Umah Tete, Task Leader from the World Bank, and Mariam Dolidze, Co-Task Leader. Irakli Mekvabishvili, Auditor General, Eka Ghazadze, Deputy Auditor General and Tsotne Karkashadze, Head of the State Budget and Strategic Analysis Department participated in the working meeting on behalf of the SAO.
