The permanent audit group of the Parliament reviewing the audit reports of the State Audit Office (SAO) discussed the financial audit reports of the government sector ministries.
The SAO presented to MPs and ministries the findings of the 2018 financial audits conducted in 10 ministries, including deficiencies in asset management, requirements and obligations, accounting and general internal control mechanisms.
In the framework of financial audits, to improve the performance and financial accounting of ministries, state auditors issued a total of 111 recommendations.
It is noteworthy that approximately 70% of state budget payments were covered by audits of the 2018 financial statements.
Deputy Auditor General Davit Gogichaishvili, heads of audit departments of the SAO, as well as representatives of the ministries answered the questions of the MPs.
Such a large-scale discussion of the financial audit reports was held for the first time at the request of MPs at the session of the permanent audit group of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Parliament reviewing the audit reports of the SAO.
