The last session of the permanent group of the Budget and Finance Committee reviewing the audit reports of the State Audit Office (SAO) was held in the Parliament of Georgia.
The SAO submitted to the commission members a performance audit report on the activities carried out by the LEPL Training Center of Justice of Georgia and LEPL Penitentiary and Probation System Training Center. Sophio Dvalishvili, Head of Defense, Public Order and Security Audit Department spoke about the findings and recommendations outlined in the report.
The working meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Justice, as well as the heads of training centers. They agreed with the recommendations of the SAO and presented a plan to implement them. Most of the questions were related to the recommendation on the unification of these two legal entities under public law within the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
Deputy Auditor General, Davit Gogichaishvili and Deputy Minister of Justice, Mikheil Sarjveladze answered the questions of the MPs. The Ministry of Justice and the directors of the training centers themselves presented their arguments as to why this recommendation could not be implemented.
