Since 2020, the Supreme Audit Institutions of more than 50 member states of INTOSAI will use the program developed by Tornike Shermadini, Head of Economic Activities Audit Department at the State Audit Office of Georgia (SAO), as a practical guide to audit quality assurance. The manual was prepared at the request of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI).
All the member states of the Asian Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI) are already applying the questionnaire compiled by Tornike Shermadini, and the assessment of the quality of audit reports in these states has started this month using this manual.
The textbook was highly praised at a conference of ASEANSAI in Nepal in early December, attended by delegations from 23 countries. The members of the delegation expressed their readiness to work with the assistance of this program to improve the quality control systems and quality assurance procedures.
Tornike Shermadini has been working at SAO since 2010. He has been a permanent member of INTOSAI Compliance Audit Subcommittee (CAS) for years, an INTOSAI Certified Trainer of Financial Audit and an invited expert of IDI.
