The State Audit Office presented two compliance audit reports at the session of the Standing Working Group on Audit Reports in the Parliament. The presentations concerned the compliance audit report on financial and economic activities of the Parliament of Georgia for 2019-2021 and the audit of the programme „Construction and Rehabilitation of Public Schools”.
Deputy Auditor General Sophio Dvalishvili and the heads of the sectoral departments introduced the findings and recommendations of the reports to the MPs.
Tornike Shermadini, Head of the Economic Activities Audit Department of the State Audit Office, discussed various shortcomings and faults identified within the scope of the audit report on „Construction and Rehabilitation of Public Schools”. These included issues related to determination of estimated cost, advance payments, deficiencies in rehabilitation projects, control mechanisms, faults in the selection and evaluation of the bidders, the process of imposing fines on contractors, insurance of construction sites, and other aspects of construction and rehabilitation process. Based on the findings reflected in the report, auditors issued 3 recommendations to the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia. The auditee took into account the auditors’ recommendations and discussed the countermeasures.
Giorgi Kekelishvili, Head of the General State Services Audit Department, presented the compliance audit report on the financial and economic activities of the Parliament of Georgia for 2019-2021. The report highlighted shortcomings mainly concerning travel expenses, the definition of qualification requirements, and the operation of transportation services. Representatives of the audit object agreed with two recommendations issued within the report and noted that the part of the recommendations have already been implemented and work on the second part of the recommendations is currently in progress.
